Top 5 World War Two Air Combat Movies

I don't know what it is, whether it the action scenes, the drama surrounding the plot of the movie, or the nerves (or lack of) of the pilots and aircrew, but air combat movies have laways been really popular. This is a list of my favorite World War II Air Combat Movies.

The Battle Of Britain

With a host of big names, this movie accurately portrays the events that took place during the Battle of Britain in the summer of 1940, and used real planes from the period too.

The Dam Busters

This is the true story of a raid that was to destroy 3 dams in the Ruhr Valley in Germany, an attack that was made possible by the invention of the Bouncing Bomb by Sir Barnes Wallace.

Memphis Belle

This is the story of an American bomber crew, on the build up to their 25th mission, following which they can return home. With every bombing raid bringing more casualties, it's only a matter of time before each crew meets their fate. Can they make it to 25?

Pearl Harbor

Although a Hollywood manufactured love story makes up the plot, this movie does have some excellent flying sequences from the Battle of Britain, Pearl Harbor and also the bombing raid on Tokyo.

Mosquito Squadron

Starring David McCallum, this features some great low level flying scenes with De Haviland Mosquitoes attacking Nazi strongholds in Germany, plus an attack on a V3 Rocket site.
