Best Review - Top 5 Shipwreck Movies

W

ho doesn't like movies about shipwrecks? The action, the drifting alone in the middle of the ocean, the shark attacks etc. Shipwreck movies are full of suspense, and many are based on true stories, like the sinking of The Titanic for example. This is a list of my favorite Shipwreck movies.

Titanic

Is there anyone who hasn't seen James Cameron's magnificent epic masterpiece starring Leonardo Di Caprio and Kate Winslett, about the sinking of the unsinkable Titanic. Cleverly weaving a love story around the actual events that occurred during the tragic maiden voyage of The Titanic and including unique footage of the wreck itself, this movie is a masterpiece.

A Night To Remember

Best Review 271

This is a 1958 classic version of the sinking of the Titanic starring Sir Kenneth Moore. I watched this when I was in my teens, had never heard of the Titanic before, and could not imagine the horror that the passengers faced in those icy waters. It's not as fancy as the James Cameron version, but it is a great movie and regarded as the closest to what actually happened on that tragic April night in 1912 of all the movies about this ship.

The Poseidon Adventure

Best Review 271

The original 1972 version of this movie is about a cruise ship that gets hit by a huge wave and capsizes. The Poseidon Adventure is a classic, with some fine acting, and fine special effects in an upturned ship.

This is one of the most memorable movies made during World War II, and tells the story of Lord Mountbatten's destroyer, which is sunk, leaving the survivors left clinging for days to a liferaft. Inspired by Noel Coward, directed by David Lean and starring John Mills and Richard Attenborough, it's a classic british movie.

This is a Disney classic movie starring Sir John Mills as the head of a European family who set out on a sailing ship for New Guinea, and get shipwrecked on a deserted island. It's one of those Disney movies you can't forget, and the kids will love watching it time and time again.
