Some years ago, downloading movies from the internet was the primary alternative for movie lovers. It was slow, it was difficult to determine if a particular services was legal, and you could only enjoy those movies on your PC. Today, thankfully, things have changed. Now consumers have a variety of well known legal movie streaming services from which to choose. Streaming is faster than downloading and, even better, consumers can now enjoy those movies on their television. Here are the services that are currently on top.

Netflix

Netflix offers both TV shows and movies via their service. While they have over 100,000 titles available for rental, the number available for streaming is a bit lower than that, but their selection is still quite impressive. There is a subscription fee, but that can be as low as $4.99/month and it can be cancelled at any time. They charge no per title fee. If you want Netflix you'll need an internet connected TV or one of a variety of affordable set top boxes.

Amazon On Demand

Amazon on Demand has a library of around 50,000 titles. There is no committment if you choose to use the service. You simply pay per movie. The fee is generally around $3 to $4 per title. There are a variety of set top boxes that can allow you to stream movies from Amazon including various TiVo models and the Roku HD.

VUDU

The library of movies at VUDU isn't quite as large but they have plenty of recent releases. There is no monthly subscription and users pay per title which range from under $1 to around $6. All that is needed is a VUDU player.

CinemaNow

Like VUDU CinemaNow offers plenty of the newer releases. Again, there is no subscription fee and the titles range from as little as 50 cents to $5 per title. There are a variety of BluRay players and set top boxes that can provide access to their movie streaming service.
