Best Review - Top 3 Best Pet Barriers for Cars

aking sure you're properly restraining your pets in cars is part of responsible pet ownership. Having a dog loose in the car is unsafe not only for you, but for other passengers in the car as well as everyone else on the road. Having a dog in the front seat is not only distracting for the driver, but a front seat air bag can kill a dog.

The safest methods of restraining your dogs in cars are using either pet seat belts or pet carriers for cars. However, using pet carriers for cars is MUCH better than using nothing at all.

Having years of experience running a successful petsitting business, I have had a lot of experience with different safety products for pets. I'm here to share my experience and save you time and money choosing the best products to keep your pets safe.

Walky Guard Car Barrier

Best trombone-style pet car barrier.
This is just a solid product. It's very easy to install, it can be put into your car in minutes with just a few adjustments. With a couple of screw twists, it can also be taken down and easily stored. Many pet carriers for cars slip and simply don't stay in place. The Walky Guard Car Barrier stays put and doesn't drive you nuts with incessant rattling! It's made to fit into most car interiors, so you don't have to worry about getting the wrong size.

Midwest Wire Mesh Car Barriers

Best Review 3857

Some people have dogs that are unbelievably good at escaping or squeezing through small spaces. If you have one of these little magicians, then you may be forced to go with a wire mesh car barrier. These do have some inherent problems, especially in terms of installation and getting them to stay in place. Some of the actual gates/barriers on these are just cheap and poorly constructed. It's with a few caveats I recommend the Midwest Wire Mesh Car Barrier. It has a very solid design, that is the actually barrier is well crafted and stable. However, it does have some hardware problems. We actually replaced most of the cheapo hardware after having a maddening experience installing it. Afterwards, we were good to go.

Solvit Front Seat Net Pet Barrier

The Solvit Front Seat Net Pet Barrier is a mesh-type barrier. If you have a small dog, this one will do the trick. This is not recommended for dogs who are chewers or might try to claw their way out. It claims to be claw-proof, but I'm not sure there is such a thing. It's a pop up design so it's a breeze to set up. The net won't sag like some of the other mesh barriers for cars. It's also light, so it's easy to transport.

Investing in a trombone-style pet barrier is worthwhile. They are designed to withstand the test of time... and the antics of our traveling companions.

Leaving your dog free in the car should never be an option. We wouldn't dream of allowing our children to travel without restraints.... So why do we think our pets are any less vulnerable to car injury?
